The Renault Sport Formula One Team participated in the Formula 1 race from the late 1970s to the early 1980s. The Renault team returned to F1 in 2002 by taking over the Benetton team, established by the famous Italian ready-to-wear brand Benetton. However, the team was sold in 2010 and returned again in the 2016 season.
Since the reorganization, its team has been called the "Renault Sport Formula One Team", but will be reduced to the "Renault F1 Team" from now on. The new LOGO directly adopts the monochrome version of Renault's diamond-shaped car logo, which better links the team and the brand directly, and strengthens the relationship between Renault and Formula One for more than 40 years.
The Renault side explained in an official statement that the move was to create a “more succinct and more natural name” to strengthen the bond between its brand and F1. Also, the new name will take effect immediately, preparing for the promotion of the 2019 season.
